About Us
The Bottom Tuesdays Advocate, the queer community's oldest regional newspaper — or at least the oldest one that still owes someone $40 from a pooled Uber in 2019.
As a small and independent publication from the fictional town of Bottom Tuesdays — nestled somewhere between a discontinued tram line and a wine bar that used to be a funeral parlour — we pride ourselves on reporting fair, just, and deeply unnecessary news with the authenticity that rivals only the glitter still stuck in your car from last Mardi Gras.
Having been established on a Tuesday (obviously), we have always taken pride in our ability to walk in both worlds: regional queer life and metropolitan chaos. In recent times our popularity has grown immensely as a result of a bold move to exist on the internet, where people can argue in the comments without making eye contact.
The year we went digital was a big year for The Bottom Tuesdays Advocate, giving many of our cadet journalists an opportunity to report on stories outside of both our town and our nation's borders — including international incidents involving harnesses, Hinge, and hummus platters at inclusive workplaces.
We will continue to report real and apolitical news and will never allow our organisation to be hijacked by any of the family news dynasties. Packer, Fairfax, Murdoch, or that one guy who live-tweets Drag Race like he's at the UN Security Council.
We hope you take something away from the news you read, brought to you by The Bottom Tuesdays Advocate. Please join our readership. It's Tuesday somewhere.
The Bottom Tuesdays lyrebirds — mascots and friends to the paper. They cannot be trusted near sequins or your ex at a launch party.
